I'm so bad at keeping up to date with this sort of thing. I really should try write more often.
The contract for my job was supposed to be up this month, but they asked me to stay until Christmas. There's nothing else here, so it's really been a relief. I don't like talking to people, but the rest of the job is interesting.
In more interesting news, I finally got an N64 game! I bought an N64 more than 12 years ago when they were really cheap, but the price of the games vs my interest in them just hasn't leveled out for a long time - but the prices have seemed to have dropped lately, so when I saw Pokemon Snap for £12, I grabbed it! I'm really excited to play it.

Today was my birthday.
It was the last carboot of the season, so I got up at 7am to go. There wasn't many people as it was the last, but I got a my little pony, a care bear and a book. I did some shopping with dad and got a cute notebook, and played some animal crossing while sitting with the dogs when I got back.
I was so tired, I'm so unused to waking up early! We did the whole cake thing - mum got cute pink candles and they sang for me in english and polish. I then helped mum cook, which was fun. If was so nice to spend time with her, she usually is so busy because she works so much. I had pizza, Indian, and curly fries... way too much food, but it was nice just this once! The cake was so good too, chocolate gateau.
I just watched TV with mum (she's obsessed with this TV show, married at first sight, lol) while I cut some stickers for my shop. It was a simple day but I couldn't ask for more. It was really fun.

I'm so bad at keeping diaries. I always have been.
I always feel like my days are so mundane, no one would ever be interested in reading about it, but then I regret never keeping a record...
Well, in the last week, I worked on a game jam project with a Uni friend of mine. We didn't finish in time unfortunately, but I still really like the work I did.
It really restored my motivation for working towards trying to get into the game industry. There really isn't anything else I want to do, but it's doubly hard from the middle of nowhere I live, and the constant feeling
that my work isn't good enough. It really feels like people look down on anyone who doesn't paint photorealism here though. I know it probably isn't true, and that it's just AAA, but it still feels that way.
In other news, now that I'm starting to come out of the whole lockdown depression thing, I'm just enjoying everything so much more. I genuinely love working on my shop, Animal Crossing is fun again and I've even gotten back into anime! I never lost interest in it, but I did that thing where I just procrastinate things I want to do because I'm not in the mood.
I've never really been one to keep up with seasonal anime, so the only things I've been watching weekly are
Hypnosis Mic: Rhyme Anima and
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou.
I
love Hypmic and the anime has been so much fun!! I'm not sure how accessible to newcomers it is, but as a long-time fan it's just been making me so happy.
The twist in Higurashi's second episode!! It came out of nowhere! I'm so glad it's not actually a remake! I watched the original back around the time it aired, and while that was something that watching it once was enough - I
love Higurashi Kai and I've seen it so many times. The first time I watched it I used to lay awake thinking about how Rika would succeed. This new series definitely made me do that again.
I've been also getting back to translating songs. I really enjoy it and I find it helps my Japanese a lot. I post them on
my blog at the moment, but I'm not sure whether to also post them here, or make another site for them.
Wednesday 5th - Monday 10th August 2020
For the summer I visited my best friend's house in the next city over.
On Wednesday we went shopping in the city centre! Pancakes for breakfast and hitting every shop possible
It's really rare I shop like this but it's fun once in a while.
We went to hobbycraft, manga and game stores, as well as the oriental shop that has lots of yummy snacks and drinks! I love the canned coffee and having pocari sweat makes me feel like an anime protagonist haha.
We got these 'bubble tea' mochi that are milk tea flavoured and have a tapioca pearl inside. They're so tasty!
On Thursday we went to a conservatory aquarium. Conservatory aquariums house rescue animals which are then either released back into the wild or rehomed at larger conservatories when appropriate. We had a book an appointment because of how things are at the moment, but it was still busy.
There were less animals and there was a one-way system which means we couldn't go around again like we usually do (the can badge gacha machine was gone too), but it was still fun.
I love seeing the penguins and the jellyfish. I can't believe it's been almost a whole year since I last saw them.
On Monday, we took a trip to the local art gallery and then the old town. We were rushed through the gallery which sucked a little, considering it was completely empty, but we still got to see most of the paintings.
My favourite piece though is the carved marble(?) statue of Jeanne D'Arc.
Last year we spent the whole day in the gallery from morning until it shut, doing studies of various paintings and sculptures. It's very different than using a photo. It's a shame we couldn't do it this time. I hope we can next year.
After that we spent a long time in the old town infront of minster. It's such a pleasant, relaxing area! Lots of other people were drawing there or working on laptops.
There's an indoor market next to it which we had a look at, which had loads of different kinds of small food places. We were going to get pizza cones, but it was shut, so we got gyros from a greek stall instead. They were so delicious!
I could eat those every day... at the end of the day we got noodles. They were good, but had nothing on the street food.
We spent a lot of the time drawing and grinding the Fate/GO summer event too. So long. The story was good and I'm glad I finished it, but I'm dreading BB's next event.
