★ Who is Nikki?

Nikki is a series of chinese gacha dress-up games developed by Papergames (known internationally as Infold).
In total, there have been five titles in the series: Nikki UP2U, Hello Nikki, Love Nikki, Shining Nikki, and Infinity Nikki. Currently, the last three are still active in English.

The story is pretty extensive, but for a very concise synopsis;
  • Love Nikki follows Nikki and her friend Momo, who are transported to the fantasy world of Miraland, a world where a blood curse stops any form of violent conflict. Instead, battles are fought with fashion and styling. The Queen of the Ninir Kingdom asks Nikki to find a way to save her world - only then can Nikki return to her own.
  • Shining Nikki sees Nikki, now accompanied by the player character, sent into Miraland's distant past, to find the thread of fate that leads to Miraland's seemingly inevitable demise, to save the world once and for all.
  • Infinity Nikki's story has only just begun, though sees a seemingly different Nikki transported to an alternate Miraland. Guided by a being called the 'Seer' who looks oddly similar to Nikki...

  • This section holds an archive of my thoughts on and outfits created in the games.

    ★ Where did it start?

    I first started playing in ~2016 with Love Nikki. I totally fell in LOVE with LN, was in a fairly high ranking guild, and I've cleared almost all of the story. When SN released I started playing that a bit more actively... mostly due to the more responsive UI. I've played IN actively since launch and continue to.

    With Shining and Infinity, I love the world, characters, and story of the games. Both have a different appeal to the styling; Love Nikki uses 2D art and so has a lot more freedom in its outfit pieces, and is easier to make Nikki look more like a different character and some of the later outift pieces are REALLY elaborate! As Shining Nikki is 3D, every styling is still very much Nikki. But there are many other features such as posing, recolouring outfits, and the very technically impressive fabrics!
    Meanwhile, Infinity Nikki is a 3D open world game, and the appeal more in the open world, while the styling remains somewhat similar to Shining Nikki.
    I prefer Shining Nikki's story and writing by quite a lot so far, but Infinity Nikki's story has only just begun!

    ★ The gacha in the room

    I like gacha games lmao.
    Okay, let me explain. I am a low spender in gacha games and only spend based on a cost:hours I've gotten out of the game vs the price of a console game basis.
    I only ever buy things that are guaranteed. In Nikki, this is outfits or accessories. For gacha currency though, I don't find it fun to spend money on gacha pulls. It doesn't feel like I've earned it if I don't get the gacha currency through gameplay, so it's not fun to buy it. I know it's not that easy for others, but for me it really works and allows these games to be really fun while keeping my spending low.
